"Petya" cyber attack strikes across Europe and US

A new round of cyber blackmail program is sweeping countries across the world over the last 24 hours.
The so-called "Petya" cyber attack, which began in Ukraine on Tuesday, has spread across the globe within a very short time.
The attack hit major companies in countries like Spain, India, and the UK, and now appears to have reached the US, but no indication yet of risk to public safety, according to Reuters citing a US National Security Council spokeswoman.
The virus is believed to be a ransomware - a piece of malicious software that invades a computer system and then demands money or ransom to solve the problem.
The cyber attack comes just a few weeks after the "WannaCry" virus hack which affected more than 150 countries and infected over 200,000 computers.
