Multinational navy activities are underway in the port city of Qingdao, eastern China's Shandong Province, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PLA Navy. On Wednesday, several events were held among international navies, and for the participation of civilians. Our reporter Zheng Yibing has the details.

A race for friendship.

Seven countries row their sampans, as part of the multinational navy activities ongoing in Qingdao.

After the fleet review on Tuesday, they began various other events to promote understanding among each other.

JAPANESE PARTICIPANT "I think it is important to make friendship with other countries."

INDIAN PARTICIPANT "Participating within such a great event with such great competition with other navies, I think it is a great learning experience for the Indian navy I think."

The event is more about fun than competition. And the navies from different countries exchanged their happiness.

ZHENG YIBING QINGDAO, SHANDONG PROVINCE "The Sampan race is only one of the multinational navy activities. There are more events and even for the participation of civilians."

Over at the port of Qingdao, nearly a dozen international navy vessels and three Chinese warships are opened to the public.

The last event like this was ten years ago, and this time, it fascinated visitors.

VISITOR "I visited some Russian vessels, and I am so glad to get aboard our destroyer 'Shijiazhuang'."

The event shows the good will for each other.

VISITOR "The international navies come here to celebrate for the PLA Navy. It shows our confidence, as well as the common wish for communication and maintaining world and regional peace together."
