On Tomb-Sweeping Day, people in China visit the graves of their ancestors and offer sacrifices to them. 5 million people in Beijing are expected to pay their respects this year. A few who visited the Babaoshan cemetery told CGTN's Sun Ye how those who passed away have lived on in spirit.
Qingming is the mourning day that falls amid the blooming of fresh spring flowers. And thousands every year come to remember those who no longer feel the changing of the seasons.
And as far back as 1300 years ago in the Tang Dynasty, days were set aside for tomb sweeping.
MA JINSHENG, ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR MINZU UNIV. OF CHINA "Going through the Qingming remembrance and rituals, it reminds people of their roots and their responsibilities. And that's what people need to carry on through life."
And they're encouraged to express their love, for those who are gone.
For while seasons may change, many feelings will not.
