Children at the Shanghai International Dance Center put on a stunning performance of the famous Broadway musical "La La Land", after rehearsing only one week prior to the show opening to the public.
The Oscar-nominated romantic musical “La La Land” is the highest-grossing musical ever in China scooping up 24.4 million US dollars in just six days when it was released on Valentine's Day.
With the help of musical instructors from the United States and Germany, 75 children aged between seven and 14 participated in the performance. They studied English lines, practiced dance movements, worked on pronunciation and rehearsed for six hours every day during the summer break.
"Acting on stage is a pleasure for me and is a new experience. I also enjoy learning new dances," said Yu Baichen, a performer of the 75-minute musical.

The international instructors said it was their first time training Chinese children for a show in such a short amount of time and language was not a barrier.
"Language is such a small thing. We have translators and that of course helps. But we can see the passion in everybody that wants to perform, sing, dance and act. It's really about the love of what they are doing," said Julian Mccleary, musical instructor and actor.
The children will perform again in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province on August 20.
