Chinese President Xi Jinping met with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, during his second state visit to Germany which aimed to cement ties with the major European country.
Xi said China is willing to deepen bilateral relations with Germany, with more people-to-people exchanges and international cooperation to better contribute to world peace and prosperity.
Steinmeier said he had close personal feelings towards China and hoped both countries will cooperate more under G20 mutilateral framework.
2017 marks the 45th year since diplomatic ties were established between the two countries. Ever since they entered a "comprehensive strategic partnership" in 2014, China and Germany have kept frequent high-level communications and exchanges in various fields.
Earlier on Wednesday, Steinmeier hosted a welcome ceremony with military honors for Xi at the presidential residence.
Xi will travel to Hamburg to attend the G20 summit.
