Thousands of paper lanterns lit up the sky over the Thai city of Chiang Mai for the Yi Peng lantern festival on Friday. The event, which takes place on the full moon of the 12th month of the traditional Thai lunar calendar, marks the end of the rainy season and the start of winter.
