Global Kung Fu Festival: Four cities mark Lunar New Year with wushu events

Kung fu masters in China and around the globe are celebrating this year's Spring Festival with wushu events.
Guangzhou is the main stage for the Global Kung Fu Spring Festival, along with three other venues in Zhengding, Hebei Province, Changsha, Hunan Province and in Nice, France.
The galas are held in four different cities featuring different Kung fu origins and branches like Tai-chi from Henan, and also includes traditional cultural performances, including people portraying famous characters from classic Chinese Kung fu novels.
On the main stage in Guangzhou, the Grand Final of the National Kungfu Championship competition is held.
120 contestants are selected from 9 regions from across the country. And a winner will be crowned in each different weight classes.
Chefs, students, and security guards are among the contestants, each telling their story through martial arts.
The president of the French National Wushu Commission is among those in attendance and said he was happy to be part of the festivities.
"I wish everyone a very happy new year, and hope that the two countries can be united more closely through Kung Fu." Roger Itier said.
