Guangdong Province, Hong Kong, and Macao, widely known as the Greater Bay Area, are fast becoming a mecca for business, commerce, trade and much more.
One of those responsible is a 32-year old entrepreneur who has carried his Hong Kong company, Mega Automation, to success. He is now doing the same for its Shenzhen sister company, Fusquare.
Enter Dr. Abraham Lam.
"I enjoy to take up challenges and meet with new guys, new people, and then we can talk about business," says the Hong Kong native. "People talk about smart cities nowadays. So, we want to have our own hardware to enable the building access to those equipment."
Among Fusquare's plans in the pipeline – one that aims to make your smartphone a master remote control for your office.
"Our solutions, for example, would consist of indoor lighting, as well as thermal comfort," says Lam's colleague Patrick Siu. "You spend one third of your time in an office every day. So it's really important for an employee to feel comfortable and to maintain a healthy lifestyle in the office.”

Lam and colleagues spend their office time at the IDG incubator, a smart office complex that houses young startups at affordable lease rates while helping them connect with prospective clients.
"Most of the people we hire nowadays are from Shenzhen," says Lam, who adds that Shenzhen's advantages are its affordable business costs and strong talent pool. "They are fresh graduates."
And experts say with the Greater Bay Area earning its keep as the next Silicon Valley, Lam's team is doing things the right way.
"This is China's gateway to Southeast Asia and beyond," says Wang Fumin, an executive with Guangdong Province's transportation department.
"This area has a long-lasting relationship and good trade ties with many countries, and the Greater Bay Area will make major contributions to the Belt and Road Initiative."
Lam says regardless of the long hours and constant travel, he is following his dreams here in the Greater Bay Area.
"Because I love what I do, I really want to put my whole team's ideas into the real world."
