Wang Yi: Preparations underway for Trump visit to China

Preparations are underway for US President Donald Trump's official visit to China later this year.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi confirmed this to reporters on Sunday after talks with his US counterpart Rex Tillerson in the Philippine capital Manila.
Chinese President Xi Jinping extended an invitation for Trump to visit to China during his trip to the US in April.
It was during that visit that Xi and Trump agreed to establish four high-level mechanisms, including diplomatic and security dialogue, economic dialogue and dialogues on law enforcement and cyber security, and on social, cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

Wang said these four dialogues serve as preparation ahead of Trump’s visit to China, with both sides making efforts for the upcoming trip.
The two nations hope Trump’s visit will help maintain healthy momentum of bilateral relations.
The Chinese foreign minister said that Tillerson proposed outlining the China-US relationship over a 50-year term.
Beijing is willing to go along with this as it has always viewed bilateral ties from a strategic and long-term perspective.
Referring to the ongoing issue of DPRK missile tests, Wang said both China and the US urge the full and comprehensive implementation of UN Security Council sanctions on Pyongyang.
He said such actions were the right response, but that dialogue was still vital to resolve the issue.
The UN Security Council unanimously imposed new sanctions on Pyongyang on Saturday over two intercontinental ballistic missile tests conducted in July.
US and Chinese negotiators worked on the new resolution for one month, before putting it to the Security Council for a vote.
