Chinese weather authorities say southern parts of the country will remain under a "blue" warning, the least-severe in a four-tier system, for heavy rainstorms.
The National Meteorological Center says heavy downpour is expected in several areas. The south of Chongqing Municipality and northern Guizhou Province are expected to be affected. CGTN's Sun Tianyuan has the details.
A floating city, all submerged in water, the city caught unprepared, now in a dire state. And people left to deal with the non-stop flooding.
ZHU XINGFU VILLAGER "If the water level reaches 50 centimeters, then the refrigerator, washing machines, the sofa, even the bed mattress become submerged. We can only wait here to see if the water level recedes.
Miles away, in a remote village, farm houses are under water and crops destroyed.
HUANG CAIHUA, HONEY POMELO FARMER ZITONG COUNTY, SICHUAN PROVINCE "Our honey pomelo base has around 67 hectares. Trees with fruits are around 6.7 hectares. Last night the wind damaged 30 percent of output. We are really sad."
HUANG DONG, VICE MAYOR NANQUAN COUNTY, SICHUAN PROVINCE "The main reason for this disaster is the large and concentrated rainfall. According to local statistics, around a thousand hectares of crop fields were affected, but no deaths have been reported. We have contacted related departments, especially insurance companies, to assess our losses. Because of emergency efforts, the water level is well controlled."
Many residents have left their homes for safety. But passengers are stranded in Shuangliu airport. And 18 trains are suspended. According to the national meteorological center, more rain is expected until Wednesday. Sun Tianyuan, CGTN.
