Chinese New Year: Traditional family dinner a must-do on New Year's Eve
[]
Welcome back to tonight's special New Year edition of China 24. The New Year's Eve dinner, or family reunion dinner, is the most important dinner for Chinese people.
All family members get together and share the joy of greeting and welcoming in a new Chinese year. During the feast, fish is normally served. In China's north, dumplings are the most important food, while in the south, people like to eat tangyuan or rice soup balls. But some are dining differently. Instead of having a traditional dinner at home, dining out has become a new trend among many Chinese. And for those who weren't able to get their reservations in time, ordering take-out online has become another, viable option.
