South Korean President Moon Jae-in and DPRK leader Kim Jong Un has wrapped up their first meeting at the border truce village of Panmunjom. CGTN's Natalie Pang has the details.
The entire world, watching the historic inter-Korean summit. And they weren't disappointed. In a meeting deemed unthinkable before, the South Korean President and the leader of the DPRK sat down to talk about peace and denuclearization - at the Peace House in the truce village of Panmunjom.
Moon and Kim attended a tree-planting ceremony in the afternoon, hoping for peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula.
The two leaders later held private, informal talks along the Footbridge before making a joint statement. They announced that both sides will work together to end the Korean War. And their common goal is complete denuclearization.
MOON JAE-IN SOUTH KOREAN PRESIDENT "Today, Chairman Kim Jong Un and I confirmed that our shared goal is to rid the Korean Peninsula of nuclear weapons through complete denuclearisation."
KIM JONG UN DPRK LEADER "We will make efforts to create good results by communicating closely, in order to make sure that our agreement signed today before the entire world, will not end as just a beginning, like previous agreements before today."
The two leaders, together with their wives, then proceeded into a dinner banquet, where they were entertained by musical performances.
A colorful closing ceremony finally brought this historic and busy summit to an end. And Kim crossed the border once more to return to the DPRK.
Now, the world will be looking forward to another landmark summit between Kim and US President Donald Trump.
