Opinion: Anticipating great rejuvenation for Chinese culture in new era

Many new ideas and assertions in the report delivered by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, at the 19th CPC National Congress, have attracted global attention. 
In the cultural aspect, the report mentioned the goal of promoting the prosperity of socialist culture, reflecting a high degree of cultural consciousness and self-confidence, and more clearly outlining great prospects and path for achieving great rejuvenation for Chinese culture in the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics. 
According to the report, the main contradiction of Chinese society at the present times is the inconsistency between unbalance and inadequate development, and the people’s ever-growing needs for a better life.

Undoubtedly, a better life always covers fantastic culture and arts. 
Culture and arts play an important role in letting people enjoy a beautiful life. Materials have a fundamental role in broadening your perspective on life. To a large extent, culture and arts also function as spiritual requirements that match with sufficient material wealth as well as economic satisfaction, which are mutually adaptable and promoted. In other words, they are demands from Chinese people to build a new ideological and cultural world contemporarily. Therefore, the success of socialist culture can provide rich spiritual foods for Chinese people and meet people’s new expectations for living a better life.

The approach of “weed through the old to bring forth the new” gives birth to the endless of culture, relying on practices leads the correct way, and exchanging and learning from each other enables culture to flourish, which are fundamental principles of cultural development. 
China is an ancient country with civilization that has never been broken. Chinese culture has been developing under a unique trajectory. The secret lies in its continuous integration with the spirit of the times. Chinese cultural vitality comes from inclusiveness and inherited innovation. 
Nowadays, promoting the success of the socialist culture also depends on great practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics, inherits Chinese 5,000-year-old traditional culture, civilization and history cultivated by the Chinese nation. It also needs to explore implied ideas, humanistic spirit, as well as moral norms, and integrates revolutionary culture and advance socialist culture created by people in revolution, construction, and reform guided by the CPC. Meanwhile, it further needs actively exchanging and learning from each other with the world culture, and innovation with the development of times.

It is particularly noteworthy that an important opportunity for cultural revival also emerges. In recent years, vigorous developments of the Internet do not only reshape all aspects of life for Chinese, but also provide an unprecedented opportunity for creative transformation and innovative growth of the traditional Chinese culture. 
According to statistics, over 70 percent of Chinese citizens get to know their traditional culture through the Internet. Recently, more museums and galleries, which preserve treasures of traditional Chinese culture are introducing their exhibits online. For example, the Palace Museum in Beijing also has launched many applications for mobile users. Now, visitors can purchase tickets online for quick entry into the museum. 
Enjoying poetry, calligraphy, Chinese painting, opera, folk art and other traditional Chinese literature and art through Internet becomes more convenient in people’s daily life. Chinese classic texts and literary masterpieces are more widely spread through the Internet, and also have been applied to the network literature, online video, network entertainment and online games. The Internet injects many possibilities to stimulate and cultivate the traditional Chinese cultural resources. 
More importantly, all these life experiences obtained in cyberspace breeds a breakthrough in the development of new cultures. 
Oriental intelligence and artificial intelligence are integrating into the new era, reflecting the inexhaustible cultural production of contemporary China, forming a strong power to reshape the Chinese cultural horizon. People are convinced to embrace a bright future of for contemporary Chinese culture.
