On Sunday, Xiong'an New Area, a development hub about 100 kilometers southwest of Beijing, will turn one year old. Xiong'an New Area is a state-level new area in Hebei Province. Its main function is to serve as a development hub for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei economic triangle. Development takes place under the direct oversight of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council. Expectations are high, as Xiong'an is described as part of the "millennium strategy".
