Trade Frictions: US proposes $50 bln worth of tariffs on Chinese imports
[]
The US has published a list of imported goods from China valued at an estimated 50 billion US dollars, that may soon be subject to fresh import tariffs.
The proposed list covers approximately 13-hundred products from sectors such as aerospace, information and communication technology, robotics, and machinery. If the list is approved, the products will be subject to an additional 25 percent tariff. The proposed list is based on a Section 301 investigation, into alleged Chinese intellectual property, and technology transfer practices. It was launched by the Trump administration in August 2017. The proposed list will now undergo a 60-day review period, before being finalized.
