The 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic torch relay reached its 96th day on Sunday in Taebaek, South Korea as the countdown to Friday's opening ceremony continued. Yang Jian and Cui Jianwei – Chinese torchbearers from CCTV-5, also joined the torch relay.
"The Olympic Spirit encourages cooperation and teamwork, and that is what all the torchbearers did today. The 2022 Winter Olympics will be held in our hometown of Beijing, and I hope to take this great broadcasting vibe into the 2022 Winter Olympics," said Cui.
The torch will reach its final destination this Friday to light the cauldron at the opening ceremony of the 2018 Winter Games in PyeongChang.

The flame started off in the city of Taebaek before being carried to a safety awareness theme park called "365 Safe Town." The park combines education, entertainment, recreation, and leisure into one public space.
The Olympic torch relay began its journey in Incheon on November 1. At least 7,500 torchbearers have joined the transportation of the Olympic flame across the country. These runners are the representative of the entire 75 million people residing on the Korean peninsula. The flame will finish a route through nine provinces and eight major cities across the country.
