The eight donkeys were said to have destroyed plants outside the jail compound, which reportedly cost the jail authorities several lakh rupees.
“Despite warnings, the owner let loose his animals here so we detained the donkeys,” Head Constable RK Mishra said in an interview with NDTV.

A video released by NDTV showed the herd of donkeys walking out of the prison compound to their owner who was waiting to receive them.
It’s said that a local politician submitted the bail amount for the offenders and then they were set free.

The detention of the eight donkeys seems not to be weird in India. In 2016, a pigeon was taken into custody after it was found carrying a warning note to Prime Minister Narendra Modi near the nation’s border with Pakistan.
