The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) cautiously welcomed the outcomes of the high-level meeting with the Republic of Korea (ROK) on Wednesday, while warning Seoul of the US wish to keep the peninsula permanently divided.
Pyongyang's official Rodong Sinmun published a commentary saying the key to improving inter-Korean relations is to raise high the flag of "Our Nation Only" while opposing intervention by outside forces.
"National independence and self-reliance are [the] lifeline of the fatherland's reunification movement and for solving all the problems of our nation. It is unlikely [the] North-South problem will be solved by relying on outside forces," it said.

The daily called on the ROK government to "scrap any illusion of outside forces" and be fully aware of the ambition of the United States to dominate Northeast Asia by sacrificing the interests of the Korean nation without blinking.
"The United States wants the Korean Peninsula permanently divided so that it can ride over this region. The South Korean government must see clearly this face of America," it said.
Korean Central Television reported on Tuesday's inter-Korean talks during a separate program in the afternoon. The Korean Central News Agency reported the event on Monday night by publishing the joint communique issued at the Panmunjom meeting, describing the talks as "earnest."
The DPRK and ROK agreed Tuesday to cooperate in making the PyeongChang Winter Olympics a success, to take measures to ease tension on the peninsula and continue the process of rapprochement.
