The European Union (EU) in its latest economic forecast issued Wednesday predicted the eurozone and EU economies to continue robust performance in 2018 and 2019.
The EU forecast growth of 2.3 percent and 2.0 percent in 2018 and in 2019, respectively, for both the euro area and the EU bloc.
It also noted that the estimated 2.4 percent growth for both of the eurozone and the EU in 2017 beat expectations as both economies are continuing transition from economic recovery to expansion.
Hailing the European economy's fastest growth in a decade, Pierre Moscovici, EU Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs, called for efforts to take "necessary ambitious" decisions to strengthen the Economic and Monetary Union, stressing that "this window of opportunity to reform will not remain open forever."
