December 31, 2017 was one of Antarctica’s polar days. A polar day is when the sun stays above the horizon for more than 24 hours. Even though China’s Antarctic expedition spent New Year’s Eve under the midnight sun at the Zhongshan Station, there was no time for celebration. They were still busy with their unloading work and the polar fixed-wing aircraft Snow Eagle 601 was waiting to discover the secrets under the ice.
