We begin in Bangkok with badminton and China taking on Japan in the final of the tournament known as the Thomas Cup. The Chinese men were chasing their tenth title at this event, which they had not won since claiming their fifth in a rown in 2012, and were up against the nation that ended their reign in 2014.
The first match would see China's top player Chen Long up against Kento Momota, who won their last meeting.
The Japanese dominates the first game and when Chen hits the net, Momota beats the Olympic champion by a wide margin, 21-9.
Momota would maintain his momentum in the second, as he wins this delicate battle at the net for a 7-4 lead.
It's now match point for Momota, as Chen had been unable to solve the Japanese. He hits the net a final time and Momota takes it 21-18, giving Japan a 1-0 lead.
The loss increases the pressure on China's doubles duo of Liu Cheng and Zhang Nan, who are able to beat Takuto Inoue and Yuki Kaneko 21-10 and 21-18 in just 39 minutes, to make it 1-1 overall in the tie.
Shi Yuqi then defeats Kenta Nishimoto in straight games 21-12, 21-17 to put China ahead 2-1.  And then Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen edge Yuta Watanabe and Keigo Sonoda in the second doubles, coming from a game down to win 17-21, 21-19, and 22-20. China win 3-1 and claim the Thomas Cup for the tenth time, which also means a 20th world championship title for veteran Lin Dan.
XIA XUANZE CHINA SINGLES COACH "I am quite happy and excited. We won the Thomas Cup in 2012 and lost it in 2014 and 2016, but we finally won it this year. It was really exciting for all our Chinese fans."
ZHANG JUN CHINA DOUBLES COACH "We did not win the last two Thomas Cups, so coach Xia and I are happy to get this one. We've had a lot of pressure since taking over the team. Our players really did well, especially in the final. Japan also played really well in the final, and their team showed great ability, and provided high level matches for the audience. Their second doubles pair were new partners, and they played much better than we expected."
