Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi pledged Chinese support for Costa Rica on Friday to help the country develop industries such as solar and wind power and green modes of transport.
Wang said that both China and Costa Rica are promoting green, low-carbon and sustainable development.
China has formed a mature industry chain in solar energy, wind energy and green energy vehicles, Wang said, adding that China is willing to assist in the development of these industries in Costa Rica.
In 2013, both countries signed agreements worth 30 million US dollars to finance the installation of 50,000 solar panels, including a power plant.

Speaking to his Costa Rican counterpart Manuel Gonzalez, Wang said that bilateral ties have developed steadily.
He said that China is ready to enhance political mutual trust with the Central American country, and promote understanding and support concerning core interests.
China welcomes Costa Rica to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative and wants to strengthen cooperation with the country in the fields of infrastructure construction, trade, new energy, public security, cultural and people-to-people exchanges and regional affairs, Wang said.
Wang also called on Costa Rica to play a bigger role in the development of relations between China and Latin American countries.

Gonzalez said the strategic partnership based on equality, mutual trust, cooperation and win-win results Costa Rica and China forged in 2015 provides an important opportunity for the two sides to deepen cooperation.
Gonzalez said Costa Rica is prepared to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative, a project which will promote his country's domestic development.
Costa Rica adheres to the One China principle and will continue to support China on issues concerning the country's core interests, he said. Costa Rica is also willing to explore trilateral cooperation with China and Panama, Gonzalez said.
