China’s Central Weather Bureau issued a yellow alert for rainstorms early Thursday morning in China’s Southern and Southeastern regions.
Under the influence of Typhoon Haitang, a large area from coastal to central provinces will be expecting heavy downpours for the next 24 hours. The precipitation may reach as high as 80 millimeters per hour.
An amateur video taken by a Beijing resident showed heavy rain flooding multiple streets and causing several vehicles to break down. Beijing weather authorities warn of continuous rain and possible landslides in the coming day.
