Updated 11:32, 05-Sep-2019
As the 5G era draws near, healthcare, especially in hospitals may be held to a higher standard. China has initiated making its 5G Hospital Network Standard, with the nation's medical and mobile industries joining hands for the first time in the 5G sector. CGTN's Zheng Yibing has the details.
When integrated with modern communication methods, medical treatment gains a new momentum in reaching more people and making the impossible possible.
JIAO YAHUI CHINA NATIONAL HEALTH COMMISSION "We are promoting telemedicine and constructing smart and informationized hospitals. So to speak, when the internet and medical treatments are integrated, they have many applications and become recognized in registration, diagnosis and treatment, information flow, as well as remote consultation and teaching. And the 5G technology makes the medical treatment go into a fast track of development."
Cases of telemedicine and remote consultation are not so rare any more. But to better realize the prospects outlined for the 5G era, there are still uncertainties that need addressing. That's why more than 30 Chinese hospitals and major telecom giants came together in Beijing to propose that the nation's first 5G hospital network become the standard for all hospitals.
JIAO YAHUI CHINA'S NATIONAL HEALTH COMMISSION "As 5G technology emerges, we still need medical institutions to practice more, examine more, and make standardizations to our future services and its network information technology."
To optimize and quicken the process, Chinese tech giant Huawei says it will provide more support with others.
ZHANG WENLIN PRESIDENT OF CORPORATE STRATEGY OF HUAWEI "For making the standard, Huawei will first provide the technology and equipment, including end-to-end 5G plug-ins and mobile backhaul networks, as well as cloud computing. Then, we will help build an eco-system for the integration of both."
At the kick-off ceremony Wednesday in Beijing, two cooperation agreements were signed between hospitals and Huawei. Three complex medical cases were discussed based on a 5G indoor network and experts say this new chapter in health care has begun.
ZHENG YIBING BEIJING "With 5G technology, medical treatment is expected to see great development, and experts stressed that during the process, more discussions and standards will be laid out in order to have steady and sound progress in the sector. Zheng Yibing, CGTN, Beijing."
