China Development Forum: Apple to donate US$4 mln for education in poor areas of China

Apple is donating nearly 4 million US dollars to support education in poverty-stricken areas of China. CEO Thomas Cook made the announcement at the China Development Forum in Beijing. He said the money will go to the Poor Digitalization Program of the China Development Research Foundation. The program aims to provide training and support to children in some of the poorest parts of country. Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy China International Trade Representative Wang Shouwen noted Apple and other tech companies are major beneficiaries, after China canceled tariffs of information technology products.
