Xiamen Airlines has expanded in recent years by adding more international and intercontinental routes. To meet growing demand for flight attendants to have good English skills, Xiamen Airlines began looking to recruit from the east China island region of Taiwan, partly due to the consideration of better English speaking capabilities among the residents there.
As a result, 60 of the final recruits are proficient in English, with 90 percent of them having taken the IELTS exam or having overseas study experience.

To help the newcomer better adjust to their new working and living environment on the mainland, the airline is offering them a special welfare package, including free air tickets back to Taiwan and daily necessities.
“This is my first time to come to Xiamen, but it feels like home. Everyone here is kind to us,” one of the stewardesses told local media.
Others also said that their parents fully support them to work for Xiamen Airlines, because of its reputation for good service and safety standards.

This may be taken as a good start for Xiamen Airlines to have recruits from Taiwan.
Xiamen Airlines manager Zhao Dong said that the airline would recruit not only flight attendants, but also other related professionals from Taiwan in the near future.
