Following the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations, a parade showcasing Asian dance, customs and traditional attire, has been held in Beijing near the iconic Bird's Nest. CGTN's Omar Khan caught a glimpse this morning.
In Beijing's scorching summer heat, the city has become a melting pot of cultures and traditions. Following the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations, organizers put together a colorful parade, showcasing Asia's rich and vibrant history.
OMAR KHAN BEIJING "After a day of meetings, seminars and lectures, there's no better way to celebrate Asian culture than hosting a parade. 16 countries from around Asia, and different parts of China are here showcasing their customs, traditions and culture."
Floats and dance troupes come from all corners of Asia. Syria, Vietnam and Thailand. These performers' carefully choreographed routines are bringing much delight to those who've packed the rails to get a closer look. Many view this as an opportunity to learn and witness a new culture first hand.
PARADE SPECTATOR "Today I saw the parade and thought it's beautiful and wonderful. There were so many different types of performances representing southeast Asian culture, and even from various parts of China."
PARADE SPECTATOR "I feel super happy to experience this type of event, and witness these cultures here in Beijing. I saw many different costumes, heard many different songs and saw dances from different nationalities."
PARADE SPECTATOR "I think it is exciting to see this kind of performance, it shows the distinct characteristics of Asia and even from China.  I feel this kind of event illustrates cultural interconnection and communication, and it brings us joy and excitement."
Chinese ethnic groups, an enchanting Asia float, a Charming China dance and a Welcome to Beijing-themed troupe are also giving the host nation a chance to show its various cultures. And for those who missed out, there's no reason to worry. The Asian Civilization Parade will run twice a day up until the 22nd of May. Omar Khan, CGTN, Beijing.
