Ahead of President Donald Trump landing in China, CCTV spoke with US Ambassador to China Terry Branstad, who said Trump's visit would be "upbeat".
According to Branstad, Trump "appreciates the collaboration and support he has received from China in addressing the threat from [the DPRK]."
The ambassador said he expected the two countries could do more together to take the lead in calming Korean Peninsula tensions.
Trade talks will also be top of the agenda, said Branstad, adding that Trump is looking forward to meeting people in China.
The president is set to have a busy schedule, with Branstad highlighting a planned visit to the Forbidden City as well his formal talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
He said he believed a strong US-China relationship would benefit the entire world.
