China-ASEAN Relations: 3-day expo on boosting ties wraps up in Nanning

The 15th China-ASEAN Expo has wrapped up in the Chinese city of Nanning. The three-day event attracted more than a thousand people from 43 countries. Around 35 high-level forums were held during the expo. Attendees discussed building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and a community of innovation. The expo is a channel for elevating ties between China and ASEAN countries. CGTN's Sun Ye has more.
One of Southeast Asia's most important trade and investment fairs wraps up. The 2018 China-ASEAN Expo attracted over 2,700 enterprises, and some 80,000 visitors. Many are going home smiling.

Expectations are high for more success. From commodity exchange, to tech, to agriculture, and more.
GAO CONG BGI AGRICULTURE HOLDING CO. "We specialize in genetic breeding, and are backed by a big gene data bank. There is a lot of room for growth with ASEAN countries, with their vast pool of genetic diversity and need for preservation."
And multiple joint development plans are in the making. Case in point - a Hi-tech industrial park proposed by Chinese and Indonesian companies with an investment projected at 5 Billion US dollars.
More than 500 national and international economic deals were reached over the CAEXPO.
SUN YE NANNING "From big data centers to healthcare projects, Many were large-scale ones too. For example, 80 percent of the agreements reached between China and ASEAN countries were worth 50 million dollars or more."

This year, with the theme of 'constructing the Maritime Silk Road', we have also linked these countries and development opportunities to areas outside the region. And better China-ASEAN relations go hand in hand with the development of the Belt and Road initiative."
This was the 15th edition of the CAEXPO. And 2018 marks the 15th anniversary of the China-ASEAN strategic partnership. Setting the scene for even better prospects to come. Sun Ye, CGTN, NANNING.
