Indonesian authorities are trying to convince more than half of the 144,000 people who fled a menacing volcano, to return home, saying they left areas that are safe.
Bali's 3,000-meter-high Mount Agung volcano in the Karang Asem district has been put at the top alert level. It has been rumbling since August with continuing seismic activity, spewing steam and fumes. Despite the authorities' assurances, many residents who live outside the no-go zone are not willing to return home.
