South Korea and the United States will kick off their annual Key Resolve training exercise this week as scheduled, reported Yonhap, citing a military official on Sunday.
The simulation-based, command-post drill is set to begin Monday and run for two weeks, the military official said. The two countries started their four-week Foal Eagle field training at the beginning of this month.
However, it's still unclear whether the military drill is taking place this Friday, the very day the inter-Korean summit will be held.
About 12,200 military troops have taken part in the annual drills in the past and the figure will be about the same this year, according to the military.
