Chinese President Xi Jinping has congratulated President Putin on his re-election.

Speaking by phone, President Xi said China's ties with Russia are better than ever before, setting an example for building a new type of international relations featuring mutual respect, fairness and justice, cooperation and win-win results.  The Chinese president said he's willing to work with Putin to promote their partnership to a higher level, provide a driving force for development in both countries, and contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the region and the world as a whole. President Xi added that over recent years, the Russian people have united as one in strengthening the nation, realizing rejuvenation and development, and playing an important constructive role in international affairs.
