Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is set to arrive in the Philippines on Thursday for a two-day visit to the country. Abe is not only visiting Manila, but is also scheduled to fly to Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s hometown of Davao City. The visit underscores the healthy relationship Japan and the Philippines have had in the face of Duterte’s shift toward a more independent foreign policy. CGTN’s Barnaby Lo has more.
