Pyeongchang Winter Olympics: IOC Exec. Board recommends keeping Russia suspension for closing ceremony

IOC authorities say they don't recommend allowing Russian athletes to march behind the national flag at today's closing ceremony of the Pyeongchang Winter Games. The International Olympic Committee Executive Board met after an appeal from Russia's Olympic delegation chief Stanislav Pozdnyakov and its figure skating silver medalist, Evgenia Medvedeva. IOC President Thomas Bach said the board would consider lifting the ban once it was confirmed there were no doping violations from Russian athletes at PyeongChang. Two of Russia's athletes have failed doping tests. The Russians are competing as neutrals, due to allegations of massive doping at the 2014 Sochi Games.
