China's largest offshore wind farm was officially put into operation in waters off eastern Jiangsu Province on Saturday.
The wind farm, located in Rudong County of coastal Nantong City, will generate 820 million kilowatt hours of electricity every year, saving about 270,000 tons of coals in thermal power generation and cutting nearly 500,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
The farm, with an installed capacity of 300 megawatts of power, was constructed by China Huaneng Group. The construction began in April, 2016.
