It was just a day ago that Russia's ban from the Olympics was lifted. But the country is still in the bad books of the IAAF, the governing body of track and field, and its President Sebastian Coe, says they will remain banned until they have taken the necessary steps to prove their athletes are clean. The country's athletes were not allowed to compete in Pyeongchang due to an alleged state-sponsored doping ring. So-called clean participants were able to take part, but under a neutral flag.
SEBASTIAN COE IAAF PRESIDENT "So it has to be up to the international federations to make that judgment and we have made that judgement. The basic principle here, for me, has always been very clear. It's how can we separate the clean athletes from a tainted system, how can we get clean athletes to competition and I think we've done that in a sensible and proportionate way. We will have neutral athletes here, we had them in London, we had them in other competitions next year. But it is a very, very clear process and a process that has served us well."
