A shooting incident at a nightclub in the southern German city of Constance left one clubgoer dead and three others injured early on Sunday morning.

Reuters said the suspect, a 34-year-old man who is yet to be identified, suffered life-threatening injuries during a shootout with police and later succumbed to his wounds in hospital.

His motives remain unclear and it is not yet known whether the attacker was acting alone.

One of the injured was a police officer who responded to the scene.
