China-US Trade Tensions: China: Unilateral action by the US violates WTO trade laws
[]
China has complained to the World Trade Organization saying Washington's actions are not appropriate under Section 301, since it mainly focuses on intellectual property violations. Beijing claims the US' sanctions are unilateral that violate how disputes are supposed to be settled under the WTO. Established in 1995, the WTO aims to ensure the rules of international trade are upheld. One of its key pillars is settling disputes where member countries can file complaints, if they think their rights are being violated.
