Xi Jinping calls for stronger ties with Sweden, Finland

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday met Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven and Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipila in Beijing.
The two leaders are in China to attend the Summer Davos meeting which takes place in the northeastern port city of Dalian from June 27 to 29.
China, Sweden to collaborate on Arctic affairs
During talks with Lofven, President Xi suggested aligning China's 13th Five-Year Plan with Sweden's "smart industry" program in clean energy, life sciences, green finance, high-speed railway and space flight.
China is also ready to strengthen cooperation with Sweden in Arctic affairs under the framework of the Arctic Council, Xi said.

Sporting cooperation with Finland
President Xi spoke to Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipila at the Great Hall of the People and said the two countries should carry out more projects in telecommunications, intelligent manufacturing, bio-economy, green technology, energy-saving buildings and clean energy.
China is also willing to strengthen cooperation with Finland in winter sports as China will host the Winter Olympics in 2022, said Xi.
