Two police officers were shot dead in mid-western US state of Ohio on Saturday, local authorities said.

The suspect has been detained by police.

The two officers were responding to a 911 call in Westerville. They were immediately fired upon when they arrived at the scene, Westerville Police Chief Joe Morbitzer said at a news conference.
