Malaysia's opposition party is making early gains in parliamentary elections against Prime Minister Najib Razak's ruling party. According to unofficial tallies, the ruling party has won 34 parliamentary seats, while the opposition party sits at 40. However, the ruling party has lost seats in key states that have traditionally been strongholds for them, raising the prospect that they could be voted out of power.
