A new resolution regarding Afghanistan issues was approved during the 72nd General Assembly session on November 20 and 21. The resolution will be included in the Belt and Road Initiative of China once again.
The resolution covers the security, reconciliation, democracy, economic development, refugees and other aspects in Afghanistan. Further efforts are encouraged to strengthen regional economic cooperation process.
The resolution once again made it clear that the Belt and Road Initiative has great significance in promoting economic developments and regional cooperation in Afghanistan, said Wu Haitao, China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations. "We hope that all countries will strengthen regional economic cooperation in the spirit of jointly building and sharing," Wu added.
As a good neighbor and a good partner of Afghanistan, China has always supported Afghanistan in promoting reconstruction and development. Countries, including Afghanistan, actively attended the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation being held in Beijing on May 14 and 15, Wu Haitao noted. During the Forum, the two governments signed cooperation agreements in various fields including economy, trade and customs, and promised to put the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative being signed in 2016 into practice.
These efforts will further promote trade, economic and social developments in Afghanistan.
