Fifteen years have passed since US-led forces invaded Iraq on March 20, 2003, but the country is still experiencing an unimaginable degree of suffering.
The removal of then longtime President Saddam Hussein and the re-ignition of sectarian flames pushed the country into chaos, turning Iraq into a hotbed of insurgency. In 2014, the world witnessed the rise of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
The brutal and powerful group, which brought more destruction to Iraq, was militarily defeated in the country late last year.
The Middle Eastern country has just begun recovering from a decade and a half of bloodshed.
