China-Cambodia Ties: Premier Li Keqiang holds talks with Cambodian PM Hun Sen in Beijing

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has held talks with visiting Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen in Beijing. Premier Li said he hopes China's 'Belt and Road' initiative could help advance Cambodia's own development plan. Our reporter Su Yuting reports from the Great Hall of the People.
This is Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen's first visit to China since he was re-elected last year. And it's also his first official visit of 2019.
Premier Li Keqiang held a welcoming ceremony for him at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Premier Li expressed his hope to jointly build projects such as the Sihanouk special Economic Zone, promote the China-Cambodia Year of Culture and Tourism, and enhance coordination within multilateral mechanisms such as the China-ASEAN and Lancang-Mekong cooperation. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed his congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the People's Republic of China and spoke highly of the great achievements made over the past 40 years of reform and opening up. The two leaders witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation deals. Officials said building a community of a shared future with strategic significance was the key consensus made by the two sides.

China is a major partner of Cambodia in infrastructure development and is the largest tourist source for Cambodia.
