China Greater Bay Area: Summit calls for deeper media convergence

Turning to south China's Guangzhou, where a Media Summit of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has opened. An initiative was released calling for deeper media convergence in one of China's most dynamic regions. CGTN's He Weiwei has more.
Pursuing development in all sectors. The Greater Bay Area is under the spotlight again, but this time, the focus is on media itself.
LIU HONGBING, PRESIDENT NANFANG MEDIA GROUP "Media is not only an observer and recorder of the Bay Area's construction, but should also participate in the process. As media organizations, we should make good use of our own advantages, and integrate resources from all sides to contribute to the region's development."
An initiative was announced at the summit, calling for media innovation and convergence. It advocates accelerating the integration between traditional and new media in content production and operation, so as to expand their influence and competitiveness.

CHUI CHI TOU, ACTING CHIEF EDITOR MACAO DAILY NEWS "We visited some media outlets in the cities of Guangzhou and Zhuhai, and learned a lot from them especially in media integration. We will adopt the experience based on our own needs."
The bay area consists of nine cities in Guangdong province as well as Hong Kong and Macao. It's one of the most economically dynamic regions in China. Technological innovation, financial services and shipping are the key sectors. Last year the region's GDP exceeded 10 trillion yuan, or more than 10% of the national GDP.
