Burkina Faso's President Roch Marc Christian Kabore is looking to build ties with China. He's among the African leaders due to attend next month's Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing. Burkina Faso resumed diplomatic ties with China earlier this year. CGTN spoke to Kabore about his expectations ahead of the summit.
ROCH MARC CHRISTIAN KABORE BURKINA FASO PRESIDENT "My trip to China is a very important mission. It will allow us to consolidate the cooperation between our two countries within the win-win partnership, and the principles of legality and transparency in our relations. We also believe that this is an opportunity not only to boost cooperation with Burkina Faso but also for the sub-region and Africa as a whole, since we are participating in China-Africa Cooperation Forum. China-Africa Summit is about multilateralism, a concept that we have always defended together, because protectionism is a real threat to international and world peace. Therefore, this summit is very significant in showing protectionists that we opt for multilateralism. We have traced a cooperation based on a win-win principle, on equal opportunities and on the need to develop international trade. And I do believe that Africa and China constitute a real strength to fight protectionism."
