At least eight worshippers were killed on Sunday after gunmen opened fire inside a church in southeast Nigeria, reported Xinhua News Agency citing a local police source.
According to AFP, the death toll was higher. Hospital sources told the news outlet that 12 people were killed.
A total of 18 others were reported injured and have been sent to hospital.
The assault took place at St. Philips Catholic Church in Ozubulu, a town in Anambra State at around 6:00 a.m. local time. Gunmen pinpointed and shot a man inside the church and later went on a rampage.
