French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe says the country's government would not budge on its plans to shake up state rail operator SNCF. Trains in Paris are now operating normally, after two days of strikes snarled rail traffic across the country. This is the biggest challenge yet to President Emmanuel Macron's reform agenda. In a bid to boost efficiency, the French government wants to end rail workers' jobs-for-life, automatic annual pay-rises, and early retirement. Analysts warn support for the strikers could grow the longer their ongoing campaign. Unions have vowed to down tools two days out of every five for the next three months.
