The fourth World Internet Conference is set to take place in Wuzhen in eastern China’s Zhejiang Province from December 3 to 5, the State Council Information Office announced at a news briefing on Thursday.
The event expects to welcome 1,500 guests from five countries this year, including heads of international organizations such as the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Internet business leaders, online celebrities and experts and scholars, Ren Xianliang, deputy director of the Cyberspace Administration of China, said in a press briefing.
In order to provide guests with better services and promote Wuzhen, the town has spent more than a year perfecting its digital infrastructure.

Wuzhen expects to use the conference to show the world the concept of “smart city, smart life,” said Ge Huijun, director of the Zhejiang Province publicity department.
With the theme of "Developing Digital Economy for Openness and Shared Benefits – Building a Community of Common Future in Cyberspace," the conference will organize 20 forums, said Ren.
These will cover five topics, including digital economy, cutting-edge technologies, Internet and society, as well as cyberspace governance.
Two bluebooks will also be released, namely the China Internet Development Report 2017 and the World Internet Development Report 2017.

This year’s conference is also important for its focus on China's latest achievements in smart technology, especially on the aspect of the artificial intelligence, such as Alibaba’s unmanned supermarket and iFLYTEK’s translator machine, and achievements in quantum communications.
