The story is set in Chongqing during the Chinese Civil War that ended in 1949, and featured an underground agent of the Communist Party of China (CPC) under the command of Zhou Enlai fighting a battle of espionage against the enemy. Mrs Jiang, the drama’s protagonist, was a member of the CPC who dedicated herself to protecting her Party work. /VCG photo
To reflect the cultural feature of Chongqing and characters' spiritual world, different lights were used on the stage. For example, in a jail scene, the light was changed to cold tone color to emphasize the torture that Mrs Jiang was going through. /VCG photo
Sichuan Opera is one of the types of Chinese opera and originated in China's Sichuan Province around 1700. It also is well known for its singing, which is less constrained than that of the more popular Beijing opera form. The traditional formula often comes with stunts like face-changing, sword-hiding, fire-spitting and beard-changing along with the plot and different characters. /VCG photo
